Sicilian wines at the Prowein exhibition in Düsseldorf

Directly from Sicily, the southernmost region of Italy and the largest island in the Mediterranean, Assovini Sicilia, an association of Sicilian wine producers, will attend the Prowein exhibition in Germany, showcasing wines from its member wineries. Prowine will take place in Düsseldorf 15-17 March, an event entirely dedicated to the wine sector.

Who is Assovini
Assovini Sicily was established in 1998 with the aim of promoting the variety of wines produced on the island of Sicily. Today it represents 80% of bottled wine in Sicily and 59% of it is exported exclusively to the US, Canada, Brazil, China, Japan, Russia, Switzerland, Germany, the UK and Scandinavia. The total amount of the bottled wine by the Assovini shareholders is worth in the region of 250 million euros.

Member companies and wines
72 companies representing wine production in the region of Sicily are members of Assovini Sicily. Among the wines produced are: Nero D’Avola, Grillo, Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Frappato, the moscati and passiti.

Techinque tastings in Düsseldorf
At the Prowein exhibition at the Assovini Sicily stand, 14 member companies (Alessandro di Camporeale, Baglio del Cristo, Caruso & Minini, C.V.A. Canicattì, Casumano, Donnafugata, Fazio, Firriato, Lombardo, Maggio Vini, Marabino, Marchesi di San Giuliano, Terre di Giurfo, Valle dell’Alcate) will present their best productions. Two technical wine tastings from Sicilian wineries will take place during the Prowein exhibition especially for journalists, operators in the trade sector, importers, opinion leaders and consumers.
