Sardinia, stage of the Grenaches du Monde 2017

Grenaches du Monde 2017 is an itinerant international competition, sponsored by the Conseil Interprofessionnel des vins du Roussillon (CIVR) in collaboration with the Laore Agency (Regional Development Agency in agriculture) and the Region of Sardinia, where is taking place  between Alghero, Nuoro, Cagliari and Barumini. Tastings and award ceremonies were going on these days, from 8th to 11th of February 2017.
The competition is open to all kinds of wine from any country or producer, with a 60% minimun percentage of Grenache . For the 2017 edition one hundred judges have evaluate the 700 wines entered from different countries around the world (Italy, France, Spain, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Belgium, Lithuania, Slovenia, Greece, USA, Lebanon, Japan, Australia).

With 108 golden awards Spain was at the top. Italy and France were second, both with 51 awards. Important was the performance of Sardinia, that has taken 44 of the Italian awards, with the local wine Cannonau.
