The Alliance of Cooperatives was present at the 51st edition of Vinitaly in Verona with 200 member wineries: a record number of companies from all over the country that confirms the vitality of the industry. Overall, the Alliance has 498 wine cellars, 148 thousand members, 9,000 employees and a turnover of 4.3 billion Euros, representing the 40% of the total turnover of the national wine. A very performing sector with 8 cooperatives with a turnover exceeding 100 million euro, which represents the 58% of the wine average production of our country.
The share of revenues coming from the exports is 1.8 billion euro, the 42% of the turnover of the wine cooperatives and about one third of all the Italian wine sold abroad (5.6 billion euro, since 2016). The winemaking cooperatives represent the 58% of the wine average production of our country. In terms of employment, the associated wine co-operation employs about 9,000 people, of which 67% are employed indefinitely. The female share of employment is 29%, while amongst the members one out of four is woman.
