Italian Wine Union: “All for one, and one for all”

Ernesto Abbona, president of UIV, the Italian Wine Union, spoke at the "Export Italian way. All for one, and one for all" conference during Wine2Wine, the Veronafiere-Vinitaly's forum on the wine business, saying that "the decline in the positive trend that exports has undergone this year also derives from the climate of uncertainty and discontinuity lived by our companies which must be guaranteed continuity of policies, regularity in the management of resources and funds for promotion. We must continue in the institutional communication of the Italian wine system abroad, also through ICE, by focusing on increasing the value of the product, linking it to our food and wine heritage, to territories and culture. This is why we call for the immediate appointment of the new ICE management".
Focus of the conference was the export, with particular reference to the forecast estimates for 2018, the programs in progress and the promotion of Made in Italy.
"Every territory has a vocation, but not everyone has the same possibilities - continues Abbona. We must focus on the realities and territories that have the ability to represent Italy in the world and on ambassadors such as Vinitaly and Ice".
"Even us, the producers - concluded the President of UIV - must finally have the foresight to reorganize the offer of our geographical indications. The denominations certainly represent our peculiarity but it is a system that we must streamline, to make it more incisive and easy to communicate".
