Borettane onions with PGI balsamic vinegar of Modena

Barbara Trigari

D & D Italy has just launched a new line, ‘Il Contorno Pronto’, with a first product, Neapolitan-style ‘friarelli’. Borettane onions with PGI balsamic vinegar of Modena are a new speciality. The onions of this variety are named after their place of origin, Boretto in the province of Reggio Emilia, and are distinguished by their shape and straw-yellow colour. Thanks to preservation in water flavoured with PGI balsamic vinegar of Modena, they are a side dish which goes well with meat, fish and salami with fried gnocchi, typical of traditional cuisine of Emilia, or in salads. These onions are prepared according to the canons of the vegan diet and naturally do not contain gluten.

The goal of ‘Contorni’ line consists in offering products processed from fresh and preserved in water that can be consumed as side dishes, but also used as ingredients in cooking. Thanks to the many opportunities for using them, they can also be sold in the fruit and vegetable department, as a ready alternative characterized as a regional recipe. Weight g 180, shelf life 36 months.
