New agreements with Mercosur and Vietnam give good hopes to Italian dairy sector

A new door that opens up to Asia and new opportunities in the Latin American market: this is the first comment by Assolatte to the agreements concluded by the European Commission with Vietnam and Mercosur.

"Opening new markets, cutting tariffs and building a grid of common rules means creating opportunities for growth for companies, effectively fighting fake "Made in Italy ", promoting an economic and cultural model still too little widespread in the world," says Giuseppe Ambrosi, Assolatte’s president.

Although it is still not very significant in economic terms, Vietnam can become an important market and allow to strengthen commercial relations with all that part of Asia that promises high growth rates in the near future. Even more important, for Assolatte, the agreement with Mercosur that provides for the reduction of duties for all types of cheese, improving access to the market of our products in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, with enormous potential.

"The negotiations with Mercosur were really complex - Ambrosi confirms. The exclusion of the dairy sector, a concrete danger that we have fought alongside the institutions, would have left a free hand to the imitation of our products, as it has been the case for too many years".
