Grana Padano PDO was one of the protagonists at Foodex Japan 2019. The Consortium for the protection of Grana Padano took part together with the Parma Ham Consortium proposing to the visitors tastings of cheese in various ages, pairing them with other products.
The presence of the Consortium for the Protection of Grana Padano PDO comes one year after the entry into force of the JEFTA trade agreement between the European Union and Japan, intended to favor trade exchanges.
"Japan is the leading importer of cheeses in the world and for Made in Italy food it represents the tenth market worldwide - underlines the president of the Consortium for the protection of Grana Padano, Nicola Cesare Baldrighi. We welcomed the JEFTA agreement, especially for the protection offered to quality products".
In 2017, the Grana Padano Consortium launched the EUPERTE project together with Parma Ham and funded by the European Union, with an intense information and promotion campaign in Japan and China, aimed at trade operators, but also at chefs and new professional figures that with show cooking and social media are able to guide consumers' choices.
"The aim of the campaign - concludes Baldrighi - is to increase consumption in a trend market throughout the Far East, seeing it as soon as possible in the top ten of the Grana Padano consumer countries".
