Philippine market gives the green light to Italian pig meat

It’s official: Philippine market opens to pig meat and cured and cooked pig meat products exported by Italy. The achievement arrives after long and difficult negotiations, started in 2015 by Italian Ministry of Health.

The process that led to this achievement, which involved ASSICA, the Industrial Association of Meat and Cold Cuts, also included a trade visit to our country by the health authorities of the Philippines, who were able to check the production systems and the quality standards, before officializing formally the opportunity to export pig meat to the Asian country.

The Ministry of Health has officially announced the opening of the Philippine market by forwarding a note to the producers' organizations, that includes the conditions and the agreements signed with the Asian counterparts, which notified the approval of the whole Italian system and the consent for pig meats and processed products.

"We can only welcome the positive decision of the Philippine authorities to open the market to our products”, said ASSICA president, Nicola Levoni, wich added: “We believe that the Philippine market has good potential to grow and that export is an important voice for our production”.
