Green light for Italian kiwi in South Korea

Last month the Ministry of Agriculture started exports to South Korea, thanks to the positive result of the visit of the Korea inspector which from the 3rd to 7th December 2018 checked, by sample, the orchards and plants of Veneto and Emilia Romagna included in the official lists.

The start of the export activity of the Italian kiwi in Korea for the 2018/2019 campaign has been activated thanks to the financial support of ICE - Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian companies - as part of an appropriate financing intended, in agreement with the Ministry of Economic Development, to facilitate and encourage sanitary and phytosanitary inspection missions necessary for the opening of markets where non-tariff barriers to the export of Italian food products are in force.

The companies that made themselves available to host the inspection visit were O.P. CO.FRU.TA. of Rovigo, CERADINI of Verona, CONSORZIO FRUTTETO of Cesena and APOFRUIT ITALIA of San Pietro in Vincoli.

The initiative ended with the final meeting at MIPAAFT where the strengths of Italian kiwi production were highlighted

For the next few years, given the good results of these 6 years of export, the Italian authorities have been asked for exemption from the visit before starting the export. A response is expected from the Korean authorities.
